| Regional Rules-of-Thumb
Coffees can be divided into 5 basic groups for the sale of exploration:
1. Central and South American Coffees
2. East Africa and Yemen
3. Indonesia and Pacific Islands
4. Dark Roasts
5. Blends
Since dark roasts and blends vary greatly from roaster to roaster,
we’ll limit our discussion to the three broad geographical
coffee groupings. We will be happy to provide you with detailed
information on their particular offerings in each category.
- Central & South America: Coffees in this category are generally
mild in flavor, with light-to-medium body and considerable acidity.
- East Africa and Yemen: Coffees from these areas are typically
intense in flavor, with unique wine-like or fruity flavor notes
and bright acidity.
- Indonesia and the Pacific: Coffees from Indonesia and the Pacific
are known for their full bodied smoothness, rich, earthy flavors
and low acidity.
